Speed Testing

I tested the speed of my 700E the other day. But there were some flaws in my method, so the readings were more than likely inaccurate. The good news is that they are probably slower than the actual speed because the heli was flying further away from the camera than the boxes. This means that it could have flown further than 7m. The next test I want to do is the climbing speed. I have an altimeter which can plot alititude vs time, this will allow me to work out the speed by dividing the distance by time.

NEW Youtube Channel!

I have created a new youtube channel for other rc things that are non-heli related. The reason for this is because I want to share some videos of other things such as tricopters, planes, fpv etc. If you are interested, please subscribe! www.youtube.com/tomstanton282

REALLY WINDY!

The last couple of days, it has been really windy and not very warm. But today I went down to the flying club and did some flying. I only flew the 700 because the 500 would probably get bashed around in this wind. I was planning on doing my first inverted auto, but with the high gusty winds, I decided to just stick to upright autos. Maybe another day... :)

700 Governor gain

In my previous video of the 700 flying again, there was a strange vibration. I had heard this noise before on my friend's 450 and he was running a CC esc too. I was thinking what it could be until I realised that the governor gain was too high and was oscillating. This caused the motor to speed up and slow down really fast, which then caused the tail to wag. I had it set on medium, so I put it down to low and it's flying great again! :)

3D championship uk 2011

I went to watch some hard heli flying on the Sunday of the event. But instead, I got soaked! It rained all morning and probably about 5-10 pilots flew. So at 2:00, I decided to dry off and go home. It was such a shame because I heard it was good weather on the saturday and the night flying great. I have a few videos that I might upload of some people flying in the rain! I can remember it being freezing cold last year, and I was hoping for really warm this year. This year it wasn't cold, but it wasn't dry. Probably better to be cold that wet when flying heli's. Better luck next year...

700 has its headspeed back

I have now finished programming the esc on the 700 with governor mode. I really cant wait to hear those huge blades rip through the sky again. The esc programming video part 2 is now up on youtube! I am very keen to find out how to use the auto rotation bail out feature for when I come to do my first inverted auto. As soon as I find out, I will make a video to show the steps. I also like the fact that its able to program 3 different headspeeds, when I previously programmed it, I only use one headspeed for 3D. Now I will use a different headspeed for takeoffs, landing and 3D. Also, the headspeed change rate is useful when going from low RPM to high RPM without stripping the main gear, and it sounds really cool!

100th video

Today, the 100th on the tomstanton28's channel was created! It's a little random and hopefully funny. The video was to do with the 700 flying again. If you are reading this and it's not uploaded, don't worry, my internet is slow with uploading videos! lol

Setup Video of the 120HV esc

I have been creating the setup video (part 1) today and its being uploaded. Only problem is, youtube says 552mins remaing! :(  The setup video is about 7:30mins long, so its probably one of my longest videos. I will be creating part 2 tomorrow when I have some more time. Then hopefully go flying this week, if the weather agrees with me.

Fired up the 120HV (if you pardon the pun)

I fired up the 120HV CC ESC V2 for the first time. After reading lots of information on the forums, I was quite scared to plug in those 12s lipos into a possibly unstable esc mounted on a £1000 heli! lol

But, I have now realised that forums are great for information, but bad if your looking for good news. I never had any problems with my old esc, but because of reading all the forum posts, I sent it in. Luckily haven't had any problems with the new esc yet.

I would like to thank Castle Creations for giving me a trustworthy esc...   ...I hope it stays trustworthy too!

120HV almost ready

I got the 120hv soldered up today and ready to program. After a few requests, I will be making a video on how to program the CC 120hv esc, after I have learnt myself!

Also, I have recently got a sponsor. Now don't go thinking that this will change the way I make videos etc. All that has/will be changed is the intro on my videos. BUT If you want 5% off of any align items, please go and visit LMChobbies.co.uk. you will have to sign up to the forum to get the 5% discount.

I will be using my blog a lot more often, so If I have anything to update I will be posting it here! youtube is for the videos, and I will post text updates (and sometimes videos) here from now on!
